ISCA Participates in Conference on Islam in America
Shaykh Kabbani says moderate voices are being shut out in the American Muslim community

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On May 30, academics, religious leaders and policymakers convened at the St. Regis Hotel for a Conference on American Islam, sponsored by the Ethics and Public Policy Center and the Institute for the Study of Economic Culture.

Among those attending the event was ISCA Chairman Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani, who warned that the voices of Muslim moderates are being drowned out by the disproportionately loud voice of Islamist extremists backed by billions in foreign petrodollars.

Other participants included Professor Khaled Abou El Fadl of the UCLA School of Law and Zainab Al-Suwaij of the American Islamic Congress.

The conference attracted national media attention and was mentioned in a number of articles which appeared in the June 14 edition of the New York Times.
