In Response To: Criticism of Shaykh Hisham (Luqman)

Dear Brothers in Islam,

A point of clarification : "hot-headedness" is generally a kind of distortion of things, therefore it tends to lead us into ares which are sometimes highly problematic. If we allow ourselves to remain at this level then such a state of affairs cannot be called "Islam". If it is not "Islam" then what is it? It may be something between faith and apostacy - that is true but I am not sure. If the only thing Muslims can do is let off steam or criticize their own people without the requisite inspiration and wisdom then this is a sorry state of affairs. What about the other qualitlies? What about gentleness or compassion?

The authors of the joint-statement have an opportunity to redeem themselves somewhat by retracting their statement. This is the proper and right thing to do in my estimation.

Luqman
