Directors of the aforementioned organizations,
Assalamu Alaykum,

I have been following the incidents since your statement of condemnation
of Shaykh Kabbani's speech came out. After going through all the
documents I must say that you distorted truth to the extreme and to
say the least, made a very irresponsible move by issuing such a statement.
It would be evident to all after reading the text of the State Department
speech that it is NOT Shaykh Kabbani, but you, the seven organizations,
who have led the American Muslim community to a fitnah. Instead of
contacting Shaykh Kabbani and his organization first, why did you try to
stab him at the back? The answer to this question can not but point to
your biasedness toward a specific ideology and your allegiance to
its propagators.

It is quite striking that widely known organizations like you can do this
sort of an underhand trick against a scholar of immense stature and
international repute. I think by doing so you have lost all credibility
whatsoever to represent the community anymore.

Moreover, I have noticed from time to time, hate mails and statements
carrying profanity issuing forth from some of your networks. The language
of these mails are so low and abusive that one shudders to think that
they could come from any Muslim, let alone people who claim to serve the
cause of Islam. A friend pointed out to a web page which is set up solely
for slandering Shaykh Kabbani. It is full of the same sort of vulgarism
that are present in those statements coming from "msa-net". What do MSA
think they are teaching to young Muslims? These statements and postings
even contained offensive language against the great Scholars and Saints of
the Golden Islamic past. Do they not fear Allah's wrath? How can these
come out under the banner of MSA? Who do these organizations represent
then? Well not thousands of Muslims like me for sure.

I as a Muslim living in the US bear witness to the outstanding
scholarship and leadership ability of Shaykh Kabbani. He is providing a
much needed platform for the believers of Ahlus Sunnat wal Jama'at in
this country. Besides his tireless effort to promote unity among the
ummah, of which the highly successful Unity Conferences are glittering
proofs, he has authored numerous books of high standard. His Encyclopedia
of Islamic Doctrines is a phenomenal work, a major opus where he has
compiled and presented for the first time in English language the
classical and authentic documents supporting the traditional beliefs and
practices of Sunni Islam as are followed all over the world. The Shaykh,
along with a handful of other individuals, also pioneered to bring the
essence of spirituality back to the large spectrum of Islam in America,
without which it would remain incomplete.

In the contrary to what your condemnation statement wanted us to believe,
Shaykh Kabbani actually saved the majority of peaceful Muslims from being
labelled as extremists. The US state department is not so dumb as to miss
this point. Your whining is therefore completely in vain. You may incite a
few emotionally charged and ill-informed individuals and cause fitnah, but
you can never resist the truth from coming out.

We are going to abstain from financially or physically contributing to any
of these 7 organizations from now on, and will tell our countless
relatives and friends who live in the US to do the same as well, until and
unless we see a MAJOR change in their outlook and attitude in future. An
unconditional apology to Shaykh Kabbani and ISCA and to the American
Muslim community in general would be indicative of such a change.
Anything short of that would prove your unwillingness to work for ALL
muslims as opposed to a small faction of Muslim whose ideologies dominate
your organizations.

This is a protest letter. And I refuse to be involved in any sort of email
tag, spamming or harassment.

Wassalam,
Zeeshan Ali,
Austin, TX.
