I have only skimmed both the Kabbani speech and the denouncements
from the other organizations. I am not able to evaluate one or
the other at this time and am not really intersted to do so. If
the above is true, and I don't question that it is, I have several
personal friends who have received personal death threats and
attempts on their lives have been made by Muslims. So, the above
would not in the least surprise me.
However, one things seems to prove true time and again. Whenever
extremists are exposed, they invariably rush to prove true the
one who exposes them by attacking and threating those with severe
measures who dare to defame them as violent.
If one could question Kabbani's statements on extremists before
he made them, he might look very much justified in them now
that the reactions come out.
It is the same as with a lemon. When you get squeezed, what comes
out is what was in you. You don't get sour because of the squeeze,
it only reveals what was always there, even if you were able to
hide it under a sweet fassade as long as there was no pressure.
