Legislators form Pakistan-Kashmir Caucus

ISCA asked to provide educational information on the region

(Washington, DC – 6/9/00) – In an historic achievement for Muslims throughout the world, the US Congress has formed the Pakistan-Kashmir Caucus, dedicated to work for a non-violent solution to one of the oldest disputes of the 20th century. Congressman Major R. Owens (NY) initiated the caucus calling on his colleagues to join at “a time when the US must take an active voice in the resolution of the Kashmir crisis in an effort to resolve the tensions of the region.”

ISCA representatives met with Congressman Owen and coordinators of the caucus to discuss the development and implementation of its goals, including the importance of the Muslim community in its success. Proud to be an integral and valuable resource for the caucus, ISCA appeals to the Muslim community at-large to support our efforts in this endeavor.

ISCA asks that all national Muslim organizations, their constituents, and the Muslim community at large encourage their members of Congress to join the Pakistan-Kashmir Caucus. The participation of many Congresspersons is the only way to ensure the viability of the caucus, its mission and its policies.
