Comments from everyday Americans who have seen ISCA on television

Responses from FoxNews Viewers (July 18 - 19, 2002)

  • Thank you, Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani. You and your followers seem to be one of the few moderate voices of Islam. I know most Muslims are peacable people, but we never seem to hear them. Thank you for speaking out. All we seem to hear are the extremists, and I don't blame the media here. I think too many mainstream Muslims are afraid to speak up for some reason. Keep speaking the truth, and speak it loudly!

  • I listened to one of your leaders on Fox News. It is greatly appreciated that people of Islam can take a stand against extremists and denounce those that commit terrorist acts in the name of Islam. I no more believe that all Islamic people are terrorists due to 9-11 than I do all Christians are terrorists from the Oklahoma City bombing. Again, thank you for reiterating your position on Fox News and may peace and happiness find you and your families. (South Dakota)

  • Dear Sir or Ms, I wish to express my deep appreciation for the very Holy and profound efforts on the part of your leader, Shaykh Muhammad Kabbani, in promoting Peace and Love and right moral thinking in the Islamic community as well as the world at large. Your Allah and my God are one and the same, and the bad people must not be allowed to hi-jack an entire religion. ... with Allah's Grace I pray most may one day come to see this is not the way of Allah/God. Allah/God Be Praised. (Tujunga, CA)

  • I was extremely pleased to read the article on Fox News' website regarding the recent words of Shaykh Muhammed Hisham Kabbani. I have been waiting to hear compassionate and reasonable views such as his from the American Muslim community since Sept. 11. I have been concerned about the absence of moderate Islamic voices on this subject, although it has occurred to me that the fault may lie with the press coverage and not with our fellow Americans who happen to be Muslims. Please continue to speak out. The tragic event of September 11th was directed at all Americans, regardless of their religious affiliation or lack of religious affiliation. Those of us who are not Muslim need to hear your voice. We need to hear that not all Muslims are extremists who want to destroy our cherished freedoms. We need to hear that you cherish these freedoms as well. The message has to be repeated over and over again in order to overcome the unfortunate tendency of our news media to broadcast only the extreme voices. As a non-Muslim American I welcome your voice and participation as equal and very valued members in our society. Thank you for being here and for speaking up. (Web site User)

  • I am pleased that Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani has urged Muslims in America to maintain their support for true Muslim ideals. His condemnation of terrorism and those who pervert Islam to their own ends is truly welcome. His support in this cause is good to hear about! (Hotmail User)

  • Dear Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani, I just wanted to pass along my great respect and admiration for your work. (San Francisco CA)

  • I would like to thank your chairman, Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani, for his courageous message as reported on Fox.com. Well done. The truth has always been out there. It just needs saying over and over again until it sinks in. (Web site User)

  • Dear Shaykh Kabbani, While I am not a muslim I wanted you to know that I consider you to be a hero for your faith. I've read recent articles in which you stand up for Islam and demand that these fundamentalists quit hijacking your faith. I've long said that Islam is such a peaceful religion, dominated by kind and decent everyday people and the recent radicalization by a few have done so much harm. Hopefully through your tireless efforts, and other people such as yourself Islam will regain its good name to so many and be understood for what it really represents, love, faith, compassion and justice. I wish you all the luck and will be praying for you to continue this imperative work. (North Carolina)
  • I read Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani comments on the Foxnews websight the other day and I feel much better that moderate Muslims are working against both the stereotypical image that Islam has in America and the effort of trying to reclaim your religion from the murderous bastards that did the unthinkable on Sep 11th. I am extremely proud of my heritage however, while my ancestors were in the dark ages yours were inventing Algebra and creating great works of arts and literature. Hopefully your culture will flourish and once again be known as creators. (Web site User)

  • I am writing in praise of Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani. I just read an online article in which Shaykh Kabbani was quoted ( http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,58207,00.html ). His comments are peaceful and respectful, and bring honor to your religion. I am not a Muslim; but I am not a Muslim hater. I believe that extremist madness will only stop when the leaders of ALL religions finally stand up in the name of peace and justice for all. I would hope that leaders of other religions would follow Shaykh Kabbani's example and make it clear to people of goodwill that God does not condone the killing of innocent men, women and children under any circumstances. • As an American, I wish to say that after seeing Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani on FoxNews the other night it was like a breath of fresh air to finally be able to hear from a Muslim leader speak so eloquently on the difficult issues facing Islam and the Western world and the need for calm and retrospection in such a clear and present manner. I wish that we may hear from more Muslim leaders in the same vein. If there is to be a true understanding of Islam it will be to no small thanks to the courage and insight of Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani. I have the upmost respect for you. Thank you. (Tracy CA)

  • I want to thank Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani for speaking out against the extremist murderers who use the Muslim faith as an excuse for their actions. I am not a Muslim myself, but I have many friends who are and I know Islam is a religion of peace. I believe most Americans know this as well, but unfortunately these killers who are hijacking the Islamic faith are threatening to change American views toward their Muslim brothers and sisters. By speaking out against terrorists and also by teaching everyone about the true tenents of the Muslim faith, American Muslims can stem some of the fear of other Americans toward their faith. • Re. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,58207,00.html Keep working hard so Muslims can be part of main-stream America where there can be many good religions. (Web site User)

  • A great "Thank You" to Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani for his kind words and courage to speak out for his beliefs about terrorism. I certainly hope that more of the American Islamic community will follow suit, to dispel some of the awful myths that have followed the 9/11/02 tragedies. (Web site User)

  • As a Christian, I was greatly pleased today to see your (SHAYKH MUHAMMAD HISHAM KABBANI) remarks in the media. I would suggest that there be more of this kind of discussion as many in America now fear Islam. Many are convinced that radical islam speaks for the majority of Arabs. If this is not true then the moderates must speak loudly. (Portland OR)
